Gluten Free Traveling
Traveling is part of life. It’s a way to learn not only about others and their culture, but also about your self. You can experience a moment of pure exhilaration while gliding down the snowy slopes of Colorado, or you can relax while sunbathing on the beaches of Fiji sipping a strawberry daiquiri. Traveling can be one of the best experiences in the world, but when you don’t know where your next SAFE meal is going to come from, the joy that is normally felt when experiencing a new place can…

Yumnuts!
If there is one thing that I am sure about as a dietitian, it is that everyone has different eating patterns! I am an “eat 5 mini meals a day” kind of girl. Eating snacks throughout the day keeps me satisfied and helps me make better decisions at meal times because my hunger isn’t raging.
One of my favorite snacks to eat is Yumnuts!!! They are gluten free, made with pure ingredients, and packed with protein and good fat. Did I mention they…

Gluten Free Grilling
Tonight, Justin and I had a double date with my best friend in the whole world, Rachel and her dear husband Byron! We went for a hike with our doggies and baby Gray of course, and then headed over to my parents house to grill out. Tonight we grilled chicken in a marinade made of San-J gluten free soy sauce and garlic. We also grilled fresh corn, onions, peppers, yellow squash and pineapple. For our side, we made brown rice mixed with…

What’s the Link Between Celiac Disease and Other Autoimmune Diseases?
Celiac disease is an autoimmune disease, which means the body has a damaging and abnormal immune response to a substance that is normally either present in the body or can be digested by the body.
Like most autoimmune diseases, our genes play a large part in determining which of us develops celiac disease. After many years of research, celiac disease has come to be considered a genetic disease, according to the National Institutes of Health.
It is very common for people with…

May is Celiac Awareness Month: 5 Ways to Get Involved
May is not just the month when wearing white comes back into style and everyone’s firing up the barbeque. The month of May is also Celiac Awareness Month, a time period during which extra public attention is drawn to this vastly underdiagnosed disease that affects 1 in 133 Americans.
Celiac Awareness Month was pioneered by the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness (NFCA), a national organization focusing on educating the public about celiac disease. Well, they’ve done a pretty good…

Domino’s Pizza offers gluten free pizza
So Domino’s has started offering gluten free pizzas in their stores today. This sounds like great news..atleast I thought so when I first read it. Problem is….Domino’s doesn’t guarantee that the pizza will be gluten free. They say the ingredients are gluten free, but they can’t guarantee that it will be 100% gluten free, due to the non-gluten free flours etc that are used in the store. So, they tell people with celiac disease, to stay away from it. So maybe you all can help me understand…

GF Crust
Domino's should check out Naked Pizza'a video. They know what they're doing, with a separate station for the GF toppings, separate utensils, and other safeguards. Doesn't look like a lot of expense for gaining customers. Have been ordering from NP for more than a year with no issues. Had their pizza for lunch today. It seems that if Domino's is spending the money on the GF crusts and the advertising of them, they could go a step further and do what Naked Pizza does. I was a Domino's…

REVIEW: Wellesse has gluten free liquid vitamins
Wellesse sent me quite a few of their liquid vitamins to review for them. All I can say is WOW! They were awesome!
They offer many different supplements….calcium with vitamin, Iron, Vitamin D, B complex, B12, Multi Vitamin, Digestive Health and Glucosamine. I tried them all. I will warn you…they don’t taste like kool-aid…but they don’t taste like medicine either. After you take them for a few days,…
