Hi! Gluten-free since 2003, when I requested to be tested for wheat sensitivities after extensive online research and years and years of misdiagnoses (and a summer abroad in Italy that was brutal health, food and health/energy wise). Anyways, I fina…

I was officially diagnosed with Celiac's last May. I got the phone call from my nurse practitioner while studying for finals. I'm 21, and the transition has definitely been difficult (I was 20 when I found out). I've always loved food, but fortunate…

About Me
I was diagnosed with Celiac Sprue when I was just 7 years old! I was extremely sick as a child and wound up visiting a seemingly infinite number of doctors, until I was finally diagnosed with Celiac in 1989.

After the initial diagnosis, my wonderful mom researched diligently to ensure that I was maintaining a gluten-free diet. After all, there weren't as many great sources of information on Celiac Sprue back then. I went on to play basketball and water polo in high school and I also played in a band that released a few CD's (music is one of my biggest passions!). We never quite made it big, but did get the chance to play at some big venues in Southern California!

I attended the University of Southern California for college, where I majored in Policy, Planning and Development and minored in Business. Today, I am an insurance broker and also consult with small businesses to show them how to increase their sales and outperform their competition by using unusual, but proven marketing techniques. Marketing is more of a hobby than a job for me and I enjoy helping other small businesses and entrepreneurs reach their full potential!

I am also on the Board of Directors for the Celiac Disease Foundation (http://www.Celiac.org) and help the CDF raise Celiac awareness in any way that I can.

After starting a few gluten-free and Celiac websites and blogs, I began to understand the frustration and confusion that happens upon being diagnosed with Celiac. In addition, I saw the many questions that individuals have when they are first diagnosed. Therefore, I wanted to create an online community where gluten-free individuals from around the world could gather to ask questions and share information, stories and recipes with one another!

That's how Gluten-Free Faces got started and I hope that you find it to be a welcoming online community and a great resource for gluten-free information, recipes, product reviews and news.

Thanks Chad. My husband and I will be at an out of town wedding that weekend, but my son may want to go by himself. Would he still benefit and be able to navigate the conference without us there? I noticed that they have "walk in" tickets available. Do they ever sell out?

Right -- sorry Chad, should have thought of that. I got a gmail update that somebody had friended me, but the link was dead in GFFaces member group, and no names matched in the search -- so I parsed the original, found an embedded link, and that was to a porn site.

Saw another new member who posted a hot photo yesterday -- and noticed she had messaged about 30 people with a link about earning money at home. So I didn't friend her.

I bet you nailed them both -- you do a great job with the site btw, not dissing you in any way!

jb

I'll try to find that original email link and sent it to you.
