Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone knows any Celiacs in the SCA? I feel as if there aren't many; but I'd like to know I'm not the only one : )

Hi Jaclyn

What does SCA stand for, the only thing I can think of is scarboro and I have Celiac.

SCA is the Society for Creative Anachronism, a pre- 1600 re-enactment group.

I never heard of it. What do they do?

Hi

"The SCA is an international organization dedicated to researching and re-creating the arts and skills of pre-17th-century Europe. Our "Known World" consists of 19 kingdoms, with over 30,000 members residing in countries around the world. Participants, dressed in clothing of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, attend events which may feature tournaments, arts exhibits, classes, workshops, dancing, feasts, and more. Our "royalty" hold courts at which they recognize and honor members for their contributions to the group."

I am not sure what that means. Please explain (if you don't mind) for those of us who don't understand the question :)

How does this pertain to Celiac Disease?

Hey!! This sounds like fun... and historically fun I hope as well. Although reading through the posts I think that it may not be related to celiac disease but offers insight into a very interesting hobby! I wonder if there was Celiac Disease or Sprue in the Middle Ages? Everything was bread or drinking mead...am I correct. I would like to learn more...

@ Jayne -it's like anything else that involves food - the more Celiacs there are, the more clout we have and the easier it is to eat and educate people.

@ Dorothy -the best way to get more information is to go to www.sca.org to look for your local chapter. From what I remember, the earliest description of Celiac dates back to ancient Greece.
