Hi again - and thanks for the pizza info.

We're also trying to find some decent gluten free deli/sandwich turkey and chicken brands. I contacted Maple Leaf and it seems they're not GF. Here in the states, all Boars Head brand deli meats and cheeses are GF, so we've trusted them. Any information about good locally available (Orangeville area) deli meats would be great! Thanks everyone.

Hi everybody - my two sons will be moving to Orangeville, ON (from Smithfield, RI) for a year of hockey, and living with a billet family. My 17 year old, Paul, has Celiac, and will be living away for the first time - you can imagine our anxiety! We are working closely with the family to be sure they understand all that is involved. They have been wonderful and are up for the challenge. We plan to send Paul with a good supply of GF breads, wraps, pasta, bread crumbs, crackers, flour and other specifically GF items. We are aware of some of the local health food stores, but would appreciate any info about good places to shop in the area that tend to carry a variety of GF foods and perhaps safe deli meats. We are also looking for any suggestions for local places to eat that are Celiac Teen friendly, understanding that the hockey team may want to pop in to a local pizza place and Paul would not want to have to carry in his cooler! We've done this Canada hockey thing before with our older son, so we've enjoyed llFornello's as a family, but would really appreciate any and all suggestions for places close to Orangeville. Thanks so much!

I had dinner last night at Grindhouse (365 King St. W.) and it was fabulous! All burgers are gf and they offer a homemade gf bun. The fries are cooked in a dedicated fryer and the gravy is gf. As well, I finished off with a fantastic gf chocolate cake with creme bruille topping and raspberry sauce. And the prices are great!

I know El Peto and Kinnikinnick test their flour and products. I don't know about the rest of the Canadian companies.

Thanks Jennifer and Sue. Yes, I read that Bob's Red Mill tests its flours to be less than 20 ppm. Me, I'm cheap and like to buy my flours where I can find them and trust they are gluten free, sigh, but to test the flours I buy myself is just silliness.
So, what companies, besides Bob's Red Mill do you buy your flour from?
I'll have to check out Metro soon - we don't have one close by, but I can make a special trip.
