How does a gluten-free diet help with constipation if many foods are rice-based and low in fiber?

A few days ago I put my 2 yr old on a gluten free test diet to combat her consipation. After not have succcess with on-going laxatives and a diet high in fiber, fruit and water I read about the link between gluten sensitivity and constipation.   I wanted to see the results so I can speak to our doctor about it before additional testing.

In getting educated about gluten thanks to forums like this I am confused about one thing: If gluten-free foods are often lower in fiber as well as rice-based (and rice is known to be finding), how does eliminating gluten result in combatting constipation?  Thanks!

If you have celiac disease your small intestine is damaged causing constipation because the vilı that moves the food along
Are killed due to the immune system backing up. It's like if in the middle of a crowded highway a gang started attacking cars.
Those cars would get stopped and so would the cars behind them. When the food containing gluten is stopped, nothing gets
Through. The diet itself doesn't fix the constipation, it gets the traffic opened up again. Also, fruits and veggies are always safe
To eat on a g-free diet so most celiacs I know eat a lot of them. They are rich in fiber and other great stuff so that helps. This
Isn't a quick fix though. Give it time and lots of water. Good luck!
Don't buy a food just because it says gluten-free. Personally, I don't eat any rice nor does my son. My family has multiple allergies, some cause diarrhea and others constipation. We eat a lot of quinoa; That is gluten-free and has fiber!
If you are buying a lot of pre-packaged gf foods, they are unhealthy.  Try sticking to just meats, fruits, and veggies. Its a whole lot healthier and cheaper than buying the other stuff.
Agree but not all gluten-free breads have rice.  The ones that don't have rice, my family has found, are excellent on the digestive tract.
